SRINAGAR, Feb 2: On the eve of ‘World Wetland Day’ (WWD), the Department of Wildlife Protection (Wetlands Division Kashmir) today organized a grand function to commemorate the day. The theme of this year was ‘Wetlands and Human wellbeing’ which underscores the critical role wetlands play in supporting lives and strengthening the health of ecosystem. This theme was an agreement with principles of AMRIT Dharohar highlighting the benefits of wetlands such as flood protection, clean water, bio-diversity and recreational opportunities. On the occasion, T. Rabi Kumar, Addl. Pr. CCF Kashmir/ Chief Executive Officer, CAMPA was the chief guest. The function was attended by Rashid Yahya Naqash, Regional Wildlife Warden, Kashmir Region Srinagar, various Forest officers, all Wildlife Wardens of Kashmir Region, Rahi Reyaz vice chairman (NSPWR), Chairperson, Wildlife Research and Conservation foundation, Wildlife SOS, Wildlife Mitras, students of various nearby schools/colleges and various officers and officials of the department. |
