Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 7: The Division of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension Education, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, R.S. Pura, SKUAST-Jammu, recently concluded a four-day awareness cum training program titled "Hygienic Milk Production and Value Addition of Milk" for farmers in Jammu district. The initiative, under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) B.N. Tripathi, Honorable Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu, and funded by the HADP Project, aimed to empower farm women in the dairy farming sector. Dr. Rajesh Katoch, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, R.S. Pura, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and interacted with the women trainees. Dr. Katoch emphasized the importance of empowering women in agriculture and highlighted the dairy sector's role in providing income and nutritional security to rural communities. He encouraged participants to adopt modern milk production and processing techniques and urged them to stay connected with college experts for ongoing support and guidance. Dr. Pranav Kumar, Senior Assistant Professor, Div. of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension Education, welcomed the Chief Guest and highlighted the objectives of the training program. He stressed the significance of hygienic milk production practices and value addition techniques in ensuring high-quality dairy products safe for consumption. Participants were awarded training completion certificates and provided with inputs for hygienic milk production. Dr. Kumar extended special thanks to the team of coordinators and resource persons, including Dr. Kamal Sarma, Dr. Sunil Kumar, Dr. A.K. Pandey, Dr. Rajinder Bhardwaj, Dr. A.K Pathak, Dr. D. Chakraborty, as well as Postgraduate students and non-teaching staff for their valuable contributions to the program's success. The training program aimed to enhance the capacity and overall development of rural women engaged in dairy farming, particularly in the border areas of Suchetgarh in R. S. Pura, Jammu. Through such initiatives, SKUAST-Jammu continues to play a pivotal role in empowering farmers and promoting sustainable agricultural practices in the region. |
