GLDM GDC Hiranagar hosts mushroom cultivation workshop

JAMMU, Feb 13: The Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) of Govt. Girdari Lal Dogra Memorial Degree College Hiranagar recently organized a comprehensive workshop aimed at raising awareness about mushroom cultivation and its potential for community empowerment.
The event, which was held on [Date], drew significant attention from students, faculty, and staff of the college, as well as esteemed guests from the agricultural sector. The workshop provided attendees with valuable insights into the various aspects of mushroom cultivation, highlighting its significance as an avenue for economic empowerment and food security.
Led by a panel of esteemed experts including Kailash Sharma, Vinay Gupta, Charanjeet Magotra, and Neelam Rani, participants were equipped with practical knowledge and skills essential for successful mushroom cultivation. These resource persons shared their expertise, success stories, and discussed the broader societal and environmental benefits associated with integrating mushroom cultivation into local agricultural practices.
Dr. Pragya Khanna, the Principal of Govt. Girdari Lal Dogra Memorial Degree College Hiranagar, expressed her commitment to providing value-based education to students, emphasizing the transformative potential of mushroom cultivation in empowering communities. She applauded the efforts of the Department of Agriculture for their support in uplifting and empowering women through Women Self-Help Groups.
Vinay Gupta, in his presentation, underscored the immense potential of mushroom cultivation, particularly highlighting the success stories within the district of Kathua. He also shed light on the numerous health benefits associated with mushrooms, as well as their positive impact on the environment.
The workshop, which was attended by students from semester 4th and 6th, along with faculty and staff members, was hailed as a resounding success. Dr. Poonam Kamotra, President of the Institution's Innovation Council, delivered the welcome address, setting the tone for an engaging and insightful session.
Dr. Anupama Arora, co-coordinator of the Institution's Innovation Council, extended a formal vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of all involved in making the workshop a memorable and impactful event.
