| Govt GLDM Degree College Hiranagar organised plantation drive | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 17: Plantation drive was organised by department of Environmental Sciences and Eco Club of Govt. Girdari Lal Dogra Memorial Degree College Hiranagar. The Plantation drive was organised under the Patronage Dr. Pragya Khanna, Principal Govt. GLDM Degree College Hiranagar. She started the plantation drive by planting the Chinar tree sapling in the College Campus. On the occasion, a large number of trees and flowering plants were planted by the students and faculty members of the college. The students also took selfies with the plants.
While speaking on the occasion Principal of the College encouraged the students about the urgent need of afforestation to potect Environment against the Air Pollution and Global warning. She appreciated the efforts the students to make college campus a green campus. She also emphasized about the need of involvement of younger generation in the preservation of Environment and Ecosystem. The whole event was coordinated by Prof. Neeru Sharma H.O.D. (EVS) and Convenor of Eco Club. She motivated and encouraged the students for actively participating in the plantation drive. She said trees act as natural filters by absorbing harmful gases and releasing Oxygen. By planting trees in the College campus, a healthy and conducive Environment is created for learning. The faculty members of the college also participated in the plantation drive very actively and enthusiastically. The faculty members present in the occasion were Dr. Poonam Kamotra, Dr. Anupma Arora, Prof. Rakesh Sharma, Dr. Rajesh Kumar Sharma, Prof. Amit Kumar Sharma, Dr. Punam Rani, Prof. Shapia Shameem, Dr. Bharat Bhushan and Dr.Ritu. |
