Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 20: In a significant endeavor to enhance healthcare accessibility in remote regions, Red Cross Kishtwar has inaugurated a fully operational dispensary in the secluded Bhatkoot Village of Shandri Panchayat, located in the Kuntwara area. Spearheaded by Sh. Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary of the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu and Kashmir, and under the visionary leadership of Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, President IRCS, J&K-UT, this initiative aims to establish similar healthcare facilities across all districts of the union territory. The newly established dispensary marks a milestone in healthcare provision, catering to the medical needs of the local populace with a spectrum of services. Equipped with essential medical infrastructure and staffed with experienced professionals, the dispensary offers outpatient services, routine check-ups, vaccinations, institutional deliveries, and preventive care, thus alleviating the healthcare burden previously borne by the community. One of the most significant impacts of this initiative is the elimination of the arduous 8 to 10-kilometer journey on foot that women and children previously undertook for basic medical requirements. With prompt emergency medical services also available, the dispensary ensures timely interventions for urgent healthcare needs. Moreover, the dispensary collaborates with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to provide Jan Aushadhi medicines, enhancing the accessibility of affordable medications for the local population. A notable achievement for the Kishtwar dispensary was its recent successful institutional delivery conducted on February 19, 2024, at the Bhatkoot Kuntwara facility, underlining its capability to handle critical medical procedures. The Indian Red Cross expresses gratitude for the collaborative efforts extended by the Deputy Commissioner, local community members, and governmental bodies, whose support has been instrumental in realizing this vital healthcare initiative. With similar endeavors anticipated in other districts of Jammu and Kashmir, the dispensary stands as a beacon of hope for improved health outcomes and well-being across the region. |
