Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 21: In an effort to bolster the progress of the Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen (SBM-G), Anoo Malhotra, the Director General of Rural Sanitation in Jammu and Kashmir, led a comprehensive district-wise review meeting on Wednesday. The meeting, attended by Assistant Commissioners of Panchayats (ACPs) from all districts, aimed to reinforce a collaborative approach towards achieving the mission's objectives within the stipulated timeframe. Malhotra underscored the crucial role played by each district in advancing sanitation and hygiene at the grassroots level, urging ACPs to redouble their efforts in this regard. Thoroughly evaluating the progress of ongoing initiatives, the Director General identified successful practices and addressed challenges encountered by various districts. The meeting delved into several key areas including the implementation of the Annual Implementation Plan (AIP), input on the draft Operation and Maintenance (O&M) policy, dissemination of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) initiatives at the district level, and the status of processes related to land acquisition for Faecal Sludge Treatment Plants (FSTP). Additionally, attention was drawn towards the identification and development of legacy waste sites, functionality assessment of Segregation sheds and Public Work Monitoring Units (PWMUs), and the process of self-certification under the Swachhata Grahi Local Resource (SGLR) program. Malhotra emphasized the need for strategic planning for the upcoming phases of SBM-G, stressing the importance of innovative solutions tailored to address the unique challenges faced by each district. In an interactive session, ACPs shared their experiences, offering valuable insights into the ground-level implementation of the mission.
