Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Mar 3: The Government Degree College (GDC) Udhampur, in partnership with the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL), orchestrated a vibrant One Day Cultural Festival on its premises, showcasing an array of cultural, folk dance, and musical performances by 15 teams hailing from across the Jammu division. Under the esteemed patronage of Secretary JKAACL, Bharat Singh Manhas, and the able guidance of Principal GDC Udhampur, Prof. (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta, the event commenced with a warm floral welcome extended to the chief guest, Padmashree Prof. Shiv Nirmohi, a distinguished Dogri writer, and other esteemed dignitaries. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp marked the inauguration of the festivities. Bharat Singh Manhas, in his address, commended the artists for their exceptional talent and dedication towards promoting Dogri culture, emphasizing their commendable achievements both nationally and internationally. He announced a token of appreciation of Rs 1350/- for every participant from GDC Udhampur. Prof. (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta lauded the efforts of the cultural committee, music department, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, and staff for their instrumental role in organizing the event. He emphasized the significance of such cultural platforms in nurturing the latent talents of students and providing them with opportunities for artistic expression. The event showcased the rich heritage of Dogra culture through mesmerizing performances by various folk groups, including those from GDC Udhampur and other invited artists. The audience was treated to an immersive experience of traditional music and dance, celebrating the vibrant traditions of the region.
