Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 4: In a bid to foster a culture of informed and ethical electoral participation, Government Degree College (GDC) Sidhra organized a "Pledge To Vote" event under the "Mera Vote Desh Ke Liye" campaign, as part of the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative. Students of the college enthusiastically undertook the pledge to cast their votes without succumbing to any inducements, reaffirming their commitment to the democratic process. Dr. G.S. Rakwal, the esteemed Principal of the college, addressed the students, highlighting the significance of the initiative. He emphasized its role in instilling a sense of citizenship, empowerment, and pride in electoral participation, particularly among young voters. Dr. Rakwal underscored the evolution and progress of India's robust and inclusive participative electoral democracy over the past seven decades and a half. Under the able guidance of Dr. Gurdev Singh Rakwal, the event witnessed active participation from faculty members who played crucial roles in its organization. Dr. Mussarat Chowdhary, Coordinator, Dr. Harpreet Kour, HOD Political Science, Dr. Mehmood Ahmed, PO NSS, and Prof. Rudrika Khajuria, HOD English, contributed significantly to the success of the program. The "Pledge To Vote" event serves as a testament to GDC Sidhra's commitment to nurturing responsible citizenship and promoting ethical electoral practices.
