Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 5: Ushering in the spirit of empowerment and inclusivity, the Women Study Centre in collaboration with IQAC inaugurated a 3-Day Workshop to commemorate International Women's Day from March 5th to March 7th, 2024. Under the esteemed guidance of Principal Dr. Romilla Malla Bhatt, the event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing enlightenment and wisdom, followed by a heartfelt bouquet presentation to the Chief Guest, Dr. Romilla Malla Bhatt. Dr. Anju Bala, the Convenor of Women Study Centre, emphasized the pivotal role of both genders in fostering societal advancement. She urged women to recognize their intrinsic value as human beings and not merely as a secondary gender. In her address, the Chief Guest encouraged women to embrace independence and vigilance, underlining the importance of self-reliance in achieving personal growth and societal progress. The Convenor of IQAC, Dr. Monika Malhotra, introduced the theme of the Multilingual Symposium titled "Embracing Womanhood," organized by the Department of English. She shed light on the significance of this year's International Women's Day theme, "Inspire Inclusion," emphasizing the importance of fostering an environment that values and includes women in all spheres of life. The symposium featured 21 participants from various semesters, expressing their views in different languages, including Dogri, Hindi, and English. The adjudication panel comprised of esteemed faculty members: Dr. Deepika Gupta, Prof. Savita Jamwal, and Dr. Rajiv Katoch. The winners of the symposium were announced, with Nidhi securing the first prize, Ishita clinching the second prize, and Shehjar emerging as the winner of the third prize. Deepika and Lakshita were awarded consolation prizes for their commendable participation. In the second session, an exhibition showcasing locally crafted articles and homemade delicacies was organized, aligning with the theme "Vocal for Local." Students displayed their entrepreneurial skills by selling seasonal plants, food items, and cosmetic products, highlighting the richness of indigenous craftsmanship and culinary traditions. The workshop, orchestrated by Dr. Anju Bala, Dr. Monika Malhotra, and Dr. Sandhya Rani, exemplified a holistic celebration of womanhood, leadership, and entrepreneurship. The event's proceedings were skillfully conducted by Dr. Rimjhim Gupta, while Prof. Seema Kumari extended gratitude to all participants and organizers for their contributions. The workshop served as a platform to inspire and empower women, fostering a culture of inclusivity and self-reliance, resonating with the ethos of International Women's Day. |
