Early Times Report SAMBA, Mar 12: In a determined crackdown on bovine smuggling, the Samba Police intercepted a smuggling attempt within the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal, rescuing ten bovines from the clutches of smugglers. Acting on credible intelligence indicating the smuggling of bovines through Bein Nallah near Lala Chak, a vigilant police team from Police Post Rajpura successfully thwarted the operation. The ten bovines, subjected to cruel treatment, were being transported by foot from Kathua towards Samba via the border area. Upon encountering the police presence, the smugglers resorted to pelting stones at the officers. Despite the assailants' attempts to evade capture under the cover of darkness, the police gave chase. Regrettably, the smugglers managed to escape. All rescued bovines have been relocated to a place of safety. A case under FIR No. 31/2024 U/S 188, 323, 336 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal, with investigations underway. This successful operation underscores the unwavering commitment of the Samba Police in combating illegal activities and protecting the welfare of innocent animals. |
