SOTTO conducts Organ Donation Awareness cum pledge drive in ASCCONE Sidhra Jammu

JAMMU, Mar 12: Principal Prof. Dr. Indra Moza Acharya Shri Chander College of Nursing Education Sidhra organised an Organ Donation Programme for students and faculty. In her address she welcomed Joint Director J&K SOTTO, Dr. Sanjeev Puri as chief guest along with Consultant (IEC/Media) Anshu Sharma, Transplant Coordinator Irfan Ahmad Lone and Ashok Singh of SOTTO. Guests of honour were Dr Ravinder Gupta Prof & Head Paediatrics and Dr Ravinder Rattan Pal, Medical Superintendent ASCOMS.
Prof. Davinder Kour Vice Principal, Faculty and students of the college attended the programme.
Dr. Sanjeev Puri emphasized the need for cadaveric organ donation in India. He explained the role of SOTTO in creating awareness regarding organ donation in J&K stressing its potential to save numerous lives under the National Organ Transplant Programme (NOTP) of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare Govt of India.
Anshu Sharma invited the audience to become organ donor under Ayushman Bhav pledge drive.
Dr. Ravinder K Gupta inspired all to pledge for Organ/Tissue donation after death. He narrated the tough decision of donating eyes of his wife Late Dr Ritu Gupta Prof GMC Jammu when she left on heavenly abode. Her eyes gave a gift of vision to two blind persons.
Irfan Ahmed invited all to participate in "SOTTO 3km Run for Organ Donation" in the Hearth Half Marathon being organised by Jammu Hills on 24th March to promote the noble cause.
A poster making competition was held for the students in which Diya & Taranpreet secured first, Arjumamd & Sadaf secured second and Aaliya and Kusum secured third position.
Tabassum Nabi and Samaira Nazir presented a stage act and an informative film on Organ Donation.
Many students participated in the organ donation pledge drive.
