Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 12: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated a three-day capacity building programme focused on 'Leadership Development of Academic Administrators and Principals of Colleges of J&K'. Organized by the University of Jammu and the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), the workshop aims to implement the National Education Policy 2020 and enhance the internationalization of higher education. In his keynote address, Lt Governor Sinha commended the collaborative efforts of Jammu University and NIEPA in organizing the workshop, emphasizing Jammu and Kashmir's leading role in national educational reforms under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He reaffirmed the UT's commitment to revamp higher education to equip students with the best curriculum and skills to compete globally. Highlighting the importance of creativity in education, Lt Governor Sinha urged educational institutions to prioritize skill development and innovation, transforming campuses into hubs of intellectual property creation. He emphasized the need to nurture students' creativity and focus on programs fostering positive social change. Lt Governor Sinha outlined five key aims and visions for future-oriented education, stressing the importance of classrooms as enablers of imagination and mentoring over traditional teaching methods. He advocated for education driven by creativity, positioning it as a lever for a more competitive economy and urged all social institutions to adopt this model. During the event, Lt Governor Sinha called upon stakeholders to work towards establishing Jammu and Kashmir as a knowledge economy, aligning with the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047. He also emphasized the need for a conducive environment for foreign students in UT's educational institutions. Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to Lt Governor, and Prof. Dinesh Singh, Vice Chairman of J&K Higher Education Council, highlighted ongoing reforms aimed at transforming universities into centers of knowledge and excellence. Several distinguished speakers, including former Ambassadors Sh Yashvardhan Sinha and Ashok Kumar Kanth, and Prof. Pankaj Chandra, Vice Chancellor of the University of Ahmedabad, shared insights during the event. The Lt Governor released various publications, including the magazine 'Litzine', Translation Samvad, and the academic journal 'Pariprekshya', underscoring the importance of scholarly discourse in shaping educational reforms. The event was attended by Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary of the Higher Education Department, Prof. Manisha Priyam from NIEPA, Vice Chancellors, Heads of Departments, faculty members from various universities and educational institutions, along with educationists, experts, and scholars. |
