Jammu, Mar 18: In order to promote and grant recognition to Hammer Ball, one of the traditional games at the brink of becoming extinct, the Hammer Ball Association of Jammu and Kashmir was established. Sh. Manish Kumar Srivastava, National General Secretary of Hammer Ball nominated Sh. Arvind Singh Kotwal as the State General Secretary of Hammer Ball Association of Jammu and Kashmir. Hammer ball is a team game played on a grass field. In this there are 15 players in a team. This game has been played since ancient times in almost all the regions of the Indian subcontinent under different names like Gucchi Danda, Gola, Laal Eint, Lupo, Ball Tonk, etc. But it could not get a place among the recognized sports. Keeping this in mind, a two-day meeting of the National Executive of Hammer Ball Association of India was organized in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. About 45 representatives from 22 States and Union Territories of the country participated in this meeting in which Jammu and Kashmir President Mr. Vivek Kotwal was also present. The rules and equipments, etc of the game have already been registered by the Government of India, President of the Association informed. The meeting was presided over by Senior Vice President Saibal Rintu Mitra. In the meeting, it was also decided to organize the National Hammer Ball Competition in Orissa this year, which will be played from June 2nd to June 5th 2024, Mr. Arvind Kotwal, General Secretary, JKHBA, informed. Finally, various posts of the executive were also announced in the National Executive meeting, in which J&K State President Vivek Kotwal was given additional charge of President of the Education Cell and State Secretary General and Arvind Singh was additionally made a member of the Information Technology Cell of Hammer Ball Association of India. |
