Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 20: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) conducted a two-day training programme on "Updates in Canine Diagnostics and Therapeutics." Veterinary doctors from Animal Husbandry and postgraduate scholars participated in the programme. Expert lectures were delivered by the distinguished scientists. The event, led under the dynamic guidance of the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) B.N. Tripathi, and graced by the esteemed presence of the Dean, FVSc & AH, marked a significant initiative to sensitise and set the tone for future quality health care for the dog population. Professor (Dr.) S.R. Upadhyay, organising secretary, briefed that the training was designed to cover all important aspects like dermatology, nephrology, neurology, cardiology, respiratory medicine, gastroenterology, and hepatology in a short span of two days. In the beginning, Dr. Rajiv Singh, Head, Division of Veterinary Medicne, signified the importance of such refresher courses and hoped that such continuing education programmes would help to bridge the gap between knowledge and technology adoption. He further added that modern diagnostic equipment's need to be frequently practiced for prompt and reliable diagnosis of ailments. Dr. R. Katoch, Dean, informed that canines have become the central focus of animal and human health because of their zoonotic importance. Dogs can transmit 50 zoonotic diseases to humans. Eminent speakers like Professor Emeritus, C.S. Randhawa from GADVSU, Ludhiana, also delivered a lecture and hands on training expertise to the participants. Dr. J. S. Soodan, Dean, Faculty of Dairy Technology, Dr. Kafil Hussain, Dr. Neelesh Sharma and Dr. R. K. Bhardwaj faculty members from Division of Veterinary Medicine were the resource personnel. At the end of the valedictory, participants expressed their views and showed interest in many more such continuous veterinary education programmes. Finally, Professor R.K. Bharadwaj expressed his thanks to all involved in the successful conduct of the programme. |
