Hakeem Yaseen, Tarigami stress on peace initiatives

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 28 –The debate on Motion of Thanks on Governor’s Address continued on the third day in the Legislative Assembly.
Initiating the discussion the CPI (M) member, Mr. M. Y. Tarigami today said that it would be sagacious for the Government to take major initiatives for building a consensus among parties of varied political ideologies. He said that at the confidence building measures between India and Pakistan should be taken forward.
He further said that all the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, should unite to present a common face before the world which is also imperative for ensuring peace and prosperity in the State. He also demanded formulation of a Commission which would look into the killings during last two decades of insurgency in the State.
Nasir Aslam Wani, while speaking in favour of the Motion, appreciated the role the Government as being a facilitator in initiating dialogue process between India and Pakistan.
Hakim Mohammad Yaseen, while appreciating constitution of Working Groups to address the Kashmir issue, stressed on making the recommendations of these Groups public. He also asked the Government to check drug trafficking and their growing misuse to save the future of generation from becoming victims. He also suggested optimum utilization of local water resources for generating hydroelectricity.
Rafi Ahmad Mir appreciated the people for coming out in large numbers to vote thereby, indicating their faith in democratic institutions.
Javid Ahmad Dar, while supporting Governor’s Address demanded infrastructure build-up and adequate staff for newly created educational institutions. He also stressed on development in unexplored and virgin scenic locales into tourism destinations.
Qamar Ali Akhoon, speaking in favour the Address, stressed for unity of all the three regions of the State. He demanded speedy execution of Chutuk and other power projects in Ladakh region. He also suggested a transparent transfer policy in Education Department.

GM Saroori said that the large-scale development activities initiated in the State needs to be augmented. He said that steps for exploitation Gypsum and Sapphire in erstwhile Doda district needs to be taken in earnest.
Jagdish Raj Sapolia said that the conduct of elections in the State in free, fair and transparent manner has sent a clear signal of the improved situation in the State and the yearning of peace among its people.
Rashpal Singh said that creation of jobs for the un-employed youth and expediting development of the backward areas of the State should be given added attention.
Those who also participated in today’s discussion on Motion of Thanks on Governor’s Address included, Peer Afaq Ahmad , Mr. Charan Jeet Singh, Mr. Lal Chand, Sardar Rafiq Hussain Khan and Feroz Ahmad Khan.
