Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 26: Chairperson of the Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board, Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, spearheaded a crucial initiative in Barthana, Qamarwari, Srinagar, aimed at reclaiming unused Waqf land. Accompanied by revenue officials, Dr. Andrabi conducted an on-the-ground assessment to demarcate the land, which had long been neglected, resulting in partial encroachment by local residents. During the inspection, Dr. Andrabi promptly issued directives for the retrieval of encroached portions of the land and laid out plans for its fencing post-demarcation. She emphasized the importance of preventing encroachment and misuse of public properties, emphasizing that such properties were bequeathed by ancestors for the collective welfare of the community. Dr. Andrabi highlighted the proactive stance of the Waqf Board in addressing similar cases of neglect and encroachment, attributing past instances to the inaction and irresponsibility of previous administrations. She expressed gratitude for the cooperation of the public in these efforts and called for continued support from local residents. Speaking to the media, Dr. Andrabi reiterated the Board's commitment to reclaiming and safeguarding Waqf assets across Jammu & Kashmir, citing successful efforts over the past two years.
