Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 4: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), hosted a one-day workshop focused on fostering international scientific cooperation. The workshop, titled "International Scientific Cooperation" was organized by the Office of International and Alumni Affairs, SMVDU. Dr. S K Varshney, a distinguished figure in the realm of international cooperation and a former Adviser and Head of the International Cooperation Division at the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, graced the occasion as the invited speaker. Dr. Varshney discussed various aspects of international collaboration focused on various stakeholders such as scholars, faculty and institutes. Varshney, drawing from his extensive experience, underscored the importance of forging partnerships across borders to address pressing global challenges and accelerate scientific progress. Also, a detailed presentation on various schemes of Indian government which support international scientific cooperation apart from global scholarships and schemes available for students, scholars were also discussed. Prof. Pragati Kumar (Vice Chancellor, SMVDU) conveyed his vision about the need for international scientific cooperation and the commitment of SMVD University for fostering international cooperation. Dr. Yugal Khajuria (Dean, International and Alumni Affairs) and Dr. Mir Irfan Ul Haq (Associate Dean, International and Alumni Affairs) also spoke on the occasion and briefed about the need for international cooperation for achieving global excellence in research. Senior faculty members, staff members and scholars from various disciplines attended the event. |
