Awareness drive, route march conducted in Valmiki Colony

JAMMU, Apr 11: Continuing its drive under Ops *SANJEEVANI against the drug menace afflicting society in the UT, Jammu Police (South Zone) on 10th April 2024 late evening conducted a comprehensive combing and confidence building drive in Valmiki Colony area of Gandhi Nagar, under the guidance of Ajay Sharma-JKPS (SP South), Kartik Shrotriya-IPS (SDPO Gandhi Nagar), and charge of Sudhir Sadhotra (SHO P/S Gandhi Nagar) and the overall supervision of Dr. Vinod Kumar-IPS, SSP Jammu.
Under the drive, to check the movement of suspected drug peddlers/ consumers in the area, all entry exit points of the colony were plugged and strict checking/ frisking of all the commuters done. Houses of culprits booked previously under PIT-NDPS and PSA were thoroughly searched and random frisking of all sections of population in deep lanes was also undertaken. Nearby medical stores were checked for register maintenance, working of installed CCTV setups etc. One suspect person was also taken under preventive custody. South Police, Jammu also seized this opportunity to interact with citizen of Valmiki Colony and highlighted the ills of substance abuse (street awareness), especially among the youth and children of the area. It was emphasised that any information regarding drug abuse/ trade is to be given on police number 9086100100. The identity of the informer will be kept absolutely secret and confidential.
Further to instil sense of confidence and security among the locals inhabitants, random route march was undertaken from Valmiki Colony to Gole Market via Auqaf Market. Also,vehicle checking and violation of traffic rules was done in the general area.
