He was born in a Dalit family and had to bear the problems faced by people belonging to this caste since his childhood. Ambedkar’s father and ancestors worked for the army of the British East India Company and were not involved in menial tasks. However, they were still considered untouchables because of their caste. Though he went to school he was not allowed to sit with the students belonging to the upper caste groups. He, along with other children from the Dalit class, was made to sit separately and was treated badly. There was discrimination everywhere around him. This discrimination at school and in the society in general inspired him to work for the rights of the Dalits as he grew up. As you Know we are engaged in mobilizing the youth for promotion of traditional folk the role of Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan -(NGO) has become very significant in generating awareness among the masses about various social evils through Musical Play / Theatre / Drama which are still very powerful medium of communication.
