UoL organises two-day strategic Workshop on Energy Transition and Green Hydrogen | | | Early Times Report LADAKH, Apr 18: University of Ladakh, in collaboration with Hydrocarbon Sector Skill Council (HSSC), organized two-day Workshop on Energy Transition and Green Hydrogen wherein Amit Sharma IAS, Secretary IT, Transport, Rural Development, S&T, DMRRR and MD, SIDCO in UT Ladakh was the Chief Guest and Prof. S.K. Mehta, VC UOL, S. K. Bose-CEO, HSSC, Dr G. S. Kapoor, Advisor, GAIL, Dr Suhas Deshmukh, Director NCVET, New Delhi were special guests. This two-day workshop started with the lightening of lamp by the Chief Guest and other guests. On the occasion, S.K. Bose CEO, HSSC formally welcomed Administrative Secretary Amit Sharma and other dignitaries. While welcoming the guests, also gave an introduction about the Workshop and explained why Ladakh is an ideal place for Green Hydrogen Mission. After this VC, UoL Prof S.K. Mehta felicitated the Chief Guest and other guests of the occasion with a traditional khatags and mementos. VC, University of Ladakh, said that it is a very important day for UoL and Ladakh itself. While shredding some light on the two-days workshop, Prof S. K. Mehta said that green hydrogen is the "fuel of the future". He also stated that the University of Ladakh will start various skill course in this sector. He also congratulated the HSSC for pushing this agenda at the fore front. Amit Sharma IAS, the chief guest of the occasion, in his presidential address to the august gathering, shared his perspectives on making Ladakh, first Carbon-Neutral state/UT of the nation and the importance of this Workshop in achieving that goal. He explained the strategical importance of Ladakh and how Ladakh has proved its importance to the world with its special initiatives in this behalf. Amit also explained the role of SIDCO Ladakh in mitigating the constant threat caused to environment due to air pollution and lead taken to negate its effect by running maximum electric vehicles within a short span of time, in both the districts of the UT. He delightfully announced that soon, there shall be five hydrogen-fuel cell buses which shall be moving, as public conveyance, on the roads of Ladakh, and it shall be first such initiative in the nation as a part of National Green Hydrogen Mission. He also talked about the various developments in Ladakh after it has become a Union territory. His address mainly focused on the technological revolutions, citing the examples of e-Office and e-freight carriers, soon to be introduced here which shall be game changers. Secretary Amit Sharma also mentioned in his keynote address about establishment of various testing laboratories and Ladakh Science City in the UT in the near future. Before concluding his address, Secretary Amit Sharma also ensured that the administration of UT Ladakh will keep supporting the University in all positive initiatives. He also advised the participants and students of UoL to make the best use of this Workshop and appreciated the youth of Ladakh for their immense strength and vision. Apart from this, renowned expert on the subject Dr. G. S. Kapur spoke on Energy Scenario and Green Hydrogen, Addressing Global Warming and Net Zero Emission Targets. tal concerns and delve into sustainable energy solutions. Ajit Kumar, another renowned expert in refinery and fertilizer industry, currently he is handling Green hydrogen and green ammonia in Technip. He addressed the audience virtually on a pressing topic of Green Hydrogen Production cost and Project economics. The next guest speaker was Ashish Gupta, Assosciate Director-Business Development-GH2 Linde India Limited, Mumbai. His talk was focused on the topic Scopes and challenges in Green Hydrogen. The last speaker of the occasion was Dr S. S. Gupta who talked on Introduction to Hydrogen Safety and Indian Government Hydrogen Policies. |
