Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 25: In an effort to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene and first aid, the Red Cross Society, Jammu, collaborated with Jammu Sanskriti School to organize a one-day awareness camp at the school premises. The event aimed to sensitize the community on these vital topics and empower girls with essential knowledge and resources for a healthy lifestyle.
The awareness camp was inaugurated by Ansuya Jamwal (JKAS ADC law and order), who shed light on the significance of menstrual hygiene. Dr. Suksham S. Sharma, a Consultant Gynecologist and Fellow Gynae Endoscopy, provided insightful guidance on menstrual health management, emphasizing the importance of maintaining hygiene during the menstrual cycle for a healthier future. She encouraged girls to openly communicate their concerns with their parents and teachers without hesitation.
In addition to students from Jammu Sanskriti School, girls from Sunrise Public High School were also invited to participate in the informative session. The interactive session covered topics such as the importance of using sanitary napkins, debunking myths surrounding menstruation, and introducing various menstrual hygiene products available in the market. A query session provided attendees with an opportunity to seek clarifications on any related concerns.
Rohini Aima, Principal cum Vice-Chairperson, and Sonakshi Anand, Director of Operations, extended their gratitude to the distinguished guests for their valuable insights. Avneet Kour Budhraja, Vice-Principal, Ms. Prabhjyot Kour Bhalla, Head Mistress, and Varuna Mangotra, Superintendent of Curriculum & Instructions, were also prominently present, underscoring the school's commitment to promoting holistic education and well-being among its students.
