Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 25: Today marked the commencement of the highly anticipated Dharamshala Himalayan Trekking Programme, organized by Tawi Trekkers J&K, the esteemed trekking organization of J&K. A spirited group of 75 students from PS Govt College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, embarked on this adventurous journey, eager to explore the majestic Himalayan terrain.
Under the capable leadership of General Secretary Sonam Sidharth and Sourav Deep Singh, seasoned trekkers and mountaineers, along with Suksham Verma and Vikas Singh, senior members, the group sets out on an enriching expedition. Notable among the participants is Sanjeevani Bhardwaj, a student leader and executive member of Tawi Trekkers J&K.
The itinerary promises a blend of adventure and cultural immersion as the trekkers are slated to visit renowned landmarks in the Dharamshala area. From the serene ambiance of Mcleodganj to the spiritual allure of the Dalai Lama Temple, and the picturesque landscapes of Chamunda and Bhagshunag Waterfall, the journey is replete with captivating experiences.
Moreover, the programme includes visits to Dharamkot, affectionately known as mini Israel, Gallu Temple, Dharamshala Stadium, Norbulinga Monastery, and Tapovan, offering a glimpse into the rich cultural tapestry of the region. A notable highlight awaits the students at a sprawling tea garden and a tea manufacturing company, where they will gain insights into the intricate process of tea production.
Beyond the thrill of adventure and cultural exploration, the trekking programme aims to instill values of environmental stewardship among the participants. Emphasizing the importance of respecting nature and minimizing environmental impact, the students will be encouraged not to leave behind any litter during their journey through the wilderness.
The flag-off ceremony, graced by Prof. Lalit Magotra, a prominent scientist and President of Dogri Sanstha, Jammu, witnessed the enthusiastic participation of Ram Khajuria, Advisor, and Shawetica Khajuria, President of the club, along with a multitude of proud parents bidding farewell to the adventurous cohort.
As the students embark on this transformative journey, they carry with them the promise of personal growth, camaraderie, and a deeper appreciation for nature's wonders, symbolizing the spirit of adventure and exploration fostered by Tawi Trekkers J&K.
