Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 25: During routine enforcement duty on April 24, 2024, a team from the Traffic Police in Kunjwani, led by Inspector Samarjit Singh and ASI Amritpaul Singh, intercepted a motorbike bearing registration number JK02BT2885. However, upon verification, it was discovered that the number plate had been tampered with. The genuine registration number of the motorbike was found to be JK02BT2335, indicating an attempt to conceal the vehicle's true identity. Under the relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act, the vehicle was seized, and the driver, identified as Deepak Kumar, son of Krishan Lal and resident of House No. 81, Ward No. 05, Bishnah Jammu, was handed over to local police for further action under the law. This incident underscores a growing concern, as numerous complaints have been received regarding the use of fake or tampered registration plates to evade traffic violations. In response to such incidents, SSP Traffic City Jammu has issued an appeal to the general public, urging them to refrain from tampering with registration plates. Such actions not only constitute a criminal offense but also pose a risk as these vehicles could potentially be utilized for criminal activities. The SSP emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic rules for the safety and efficiency of all road users.
