KVK, empowering rural youths under ARYA project

REASI, Apr 26: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) is promoting the commercial floriculture, organic farming, poultry farming and value addition of fruits among the rural youths of hilly distt. Reasi of J&K under Attracting and Retaining Youths in Agriculture project (ARYA) undergoing in the district. KVK, Reasi is working under the dynamic leadership of Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Prof.B.N.Tripathi and able guidance of Director Extension, Prof.Amrish Vaid of SKUAST-J. According to Sr. Scientist & Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi, Dr. Banarsi Lal, scientific commercial floriculture, organic farming, poultry farming and value addition of fruits can play an important role enhancing the farm income and employment among the rural youths of the district. He emphasised on the agri-entrepreneurship development among the rural youths for enhancing the rural youths farm income. Attracting and Retaining Youths in Agriculture project has been initiated in Reasi distt. of J&K through which the KVK is promoting the agri-entrepreneurship development among the rural youths so that can be made self-reliant and empowered. Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi scientists are guiding and encouraging the rural youths of Reasi distt. for the commercial floriculture, organic farming, poultry farming and value addition of fruits. KVK, Reasi scientists are educating the rural youths on new varieties of poultry, marigold and vegetables. Diseases management practices in crops are also suggested by the KVK, Reasi scientists. Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi is endouvering to enhance the income of the rural youths of Reasi district so as to generate more income and employment in rural areas. This will also help to prevent the rural migration. By observing the results of successful agripreneurs in Reasi district many other rural youths are coming forward for scientific farming.
