Modi Govt safeguarded rights of Gujjars, Bakerwals: Kavinder
5/1/2024 10:32:17 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 1: Coming down heavily against NC Vice President Omar Abdullah for his remark on deferment of poll in Anantnag seat, senior BJP leader and former DyCM Kavinder Gupta said unlike successive governments, the Narendra Modi Government has safeguarded the rights of Gujjars and Bakerwals besides providing them succor through centrally sponsored schemes.
In a rejoinder to Omar's allegation that BJP has conspired to change the polling date in Rajouri-Anantnag seat just to ensure that NC won't get the votes of Gujjars and Bakerwals communities, Kavinder said that votes of the aforesaid communities will never be polled in NC's favour because this party's successive governments exploited the people of these nomadic tribes for years together and whatever Omar Abdullah was saying is nothing but a bundle of lies as postponement of polls is an independent decision taken by the Election Commission. He said that fears of NC that people would not vote in its favour are genuine because the leadership of this party knows well that NC did nothing else except exploiting the people on different counts including regionalism, religion or ethnicity. He said that the BJP on the contrary provided avenues to the people of J&K especially the Gujjars and Bakerwals and other underprivileged sections to live a life full of dignity and pride.
The senior BJP leader highlighted that the BJP Government at the Centre has prioritized delivering justice to the Gujjar and Bakerwal communities by safeguarding their reservation rights and extending support through various benefits via centrally sponsored schemes. This proactive approach has posed challenges for the NC party, as it is increasingly evident that members of the Gujjar and Bakerwal communities, alongside Pahadis, are unlikely to support the NC due to their realization of the strategies and deceptions employed by the NC over an extended period, he added.
