Early Times Report
THANNAMANDI, May 3: Demonstrating a shared commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement, the NSS Unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Thannamandi joined forces with the Municipal Committee Thannamandi to lead a comprehensive campus cleanliness drive. This collaborative endeavor aimed at eradicating plastic usage within the college premises while also spreading awareness about the importance of environmental conservation.
The initiative garnered enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers, faculty, students, and municipal staff, who dedicated themselves to various cleanliness activities across the campus. Under the guidance of Dr. Farooq Ahmed, Principal of GDC Thannamandi, and the active involvement of NSS Program Officer Prof. Asif Ajaz Lone, the drive embodied a spirit of unity and collective responsibility toward fostering a cleaner and greener environment.
"We firmly believe that even small actions can catalyze significant change," remarked Dr. Farooq Ahmed, expressing gratitude for the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders. "By nurturing a culture of environmental consciousness within our campus and beyond, we aspire to ignite a ripple effect of positive transformation within our community."
Activities during the drive included waste segregation, recycling awareness campaigns, and the adoption of eco-friendly alternatives to plastic. Through these initiatives, participants aimed to cultivate a sense of environmental accountability among students and municipal staff, nurturing a sustainable mindset for future generations.
The successful conclusion of the cleanliness drive underscores the dedication of the NSS Unit of GDC Thannamandi and the Municipal Committee to advancing environmental sustainability and fostering community involvement. By forging robust partnerships and instilling a collective sense of duty, the initiative serves as a beacon of hope for a cleaner, healthier planet.
