| GDC Kunjwani organized an awareness programme on child abuse | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 3: NSS Unit of GDC Kunjwani in collaboration with Department of Sociology organized an awareness program on "Child Abuse: Prevention and Protection" to spread awareness about sexual offence against children and POSCO (The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act).
Prof Bushra Nizami HOD Department of Sociology was the resource person of the event. In her presentation she familiarized the students with different types of abuses. She further added that child abuse may include any act or failure to act by a parent or a caregiver that results in actual or potential wrongful harm to a child and can occur in a child's home ,or in organizations, schools or communities. Dr. Manisha Sarup Kohli, Principal of the college in her address exhorted upon the students not only to be aware of such heinous act around them, but also report them to the concerned authorities for the lawful actions against the perpetrators.
