GRP apprehends longtime absconder involved in food, adulteration offense | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 3: In a significant breakthrough, the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Jammu has successfully apprehended Shabir Ahmed, a long-elusive absconder implicated in violations of the Prevention of Food & Adulteration Act. Shabir Ahmed, son of Ali Mohd and resident of Tantily Barsan Inharrah, Tehsil Gandoh, District Doda, had been on the run since 2016, evading law enforcement authorities for eight years. The arrest came following a relentless pursuit by the GRP Jammu, who had been conducting a special drive targeting wanted criminals and absconders. Shabir Ahmed's evasion finally came to an end when he was intercepted by the vigilant team of GRP Jammu. According to official sources, a warrant under Section 512 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.PC) had been issued against Shabir Ahmed by the Hon'ble court on March 4, 2016. Despite attempts to evade justice for nearly a decade, the long arm of the law caught up with him. The arrest marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to uphold the law and ensure accountability for those involved in criminal activities, particularly concerning public health and safety. Shabir Ahmed is now in custody awaiting legal proceedings to be initiated against him. The GRP Jammu has reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order and bringing offenders to justice, urging the public to cooperate and assist in identifying and reporting individuals engaged in criminal activities. |
