Police foil Bovine Smuggling Attempts in Nagrota, Sidhra | | | Early times Report
Jammu, May 3: In a commendable display of vigilance and prompt action, the Nagrota Police thwarted two separate attempts of bovine smuggling, rescuing a total of 16 bovine animals from the clutches of smugglers. Under the vigilant operation named "Operation Kamdhenu," the Nagrota Police intercepted a Mahindra Beloro bearing Registration No. JK21-2483 at the ban toll Naka point. Two bovines were rescued from the vehicle, and the accused driver, identified as Umar Hussain Doie, son of Fayaz Ahmed Doie from Kokernag District, Anantnag, was apprehended. A case FIR No. 129/2024 under Section 188 IPC 11 PCA was registered against him at the Nagrota Police Station. Simultaneously, in another courageous move, the Police Post Sidhra received information about two individuals, Jung son of Noor Jamal from Prowa Jagir, Udhampur, and Nazir Mohd son of Hasham Din from Junn Tehsil and District- Udhampur, mercilessly transporting bovine animals towards Kashmir on foot. The police promptly responded, apprehending both accused persons and rescuing a total of 14 bovine animals tied cruelly with ropes. In response to this incident, two separate cases were registered under FIR No. 127/2024 and FIR No. 128/2024 under Section 188 IPC 11 PCA Act. Investigations into both cases have been initiated to ensure that justice is served and to deter future attempts of animal cruelty and smuggling. The timely intervention by the Nagrota Police and Police Post Sidhra reflects their unwavering commitment to uphold the law and protect innocent animals from exploitation and cruelty. Such proactive measures are crucial in combating the menace of animal smuggling and ensuring the welfare of animals in the region. |
