Early Times Report JAMMU, May 4: The 12th All India Major Jagpal Memorial Junior Inter Public School Basketball Tournament for Boys' and Girls' that saw the participation of 12 elite schools from across the country successfully concluded on 3rd May, 2024, in the Wg. Cdr. S.S. Gyani Memorial Sports Centre at Pinegrove School, Dharampur. The final match of the U-14 boys category was a sheer display of grit, determination, discipline, skill, training, tactics and talent on the court. Playing against Army Public School Dagshai, Pinegrove School boys team maintained the lead right from the beginning. The high octane match saw the audience sitting on the edge of their seat and the boys won the Finals with a commendable score of 51-43. In the girls category The Shri Ram School, New Delhi took the lead in the Girl's category, scoring 48-28 while playing against Strawberry Fields High School, Chandigarh. Jubilation knew no bounds when the gleaming Champion trophies were lifted. Stanzin Jigmat Dorje of Army Public School, Dagshai and Sift Sandhu of The Shri Ram School, New Delhi were adjudged as the Best Upcoming Players. Vardaan Singh Thakur of Pinegrove School, Solan and Samaira Chadha of Strawberry Fields High School Chandigarh were declared as the Highest Scorers. Vardaan Singh Thakur of Pinegrove School and Aanya Singh of The Shri Ram School, New Delhi walked away with the Best Player award. The chief guest, Air Marshal Manavendra Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VrC, VSM, Member of the Armed Forces Tribunal, appreciated the management for the organization of the event and the sportsmanship of all the teams, he emphasized that in the present digital era, sports, especially team sports, builds character. He encouraged all the players to keep playing and excelling. |
