Early Times Report JAMMU, May 6: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu) took strides in promoting environmental consciousness through its Mission LiFE initiative, organizing two impactful events centered on the theme 'Waste to Wealth in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agroforestry, and Livestock Farming'. The first event, a Poster Making contest, saw 60 talented participants showcase their creativity and dedication to the cause. Concurrently, the Ideation competition witnessed the active participation of 13 candidates who presented innovative ideas for creating wealth from waste through PowerPoint presentations. These events, steered by Dr. Manmohan Sharma, Dr. Ankur Rastogi, Dr. Sachin Gupta, and Dr. Partiksha Raghuvanshi, aimed to translate the vision of Mission LiFE into actionable initiatives on the ground. Mission LiFE, conceptualized during the Glasgow Climate Change Conference (COP 26) in November 2021 and officially launched on October 20th, 2022, by Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, aspires to catalyze a global movement towards environmental preservation and sustainability. The students' enthusiasm and dedication were lauded, reflecting their commitment to crafting innovative solutions to address environmental challenges stemming from agricultural waste. Dr. Hema Tripathi, Associate Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu, and Prof. A.K. Raina, former Professor and Head, Department of Environment Sciences, University of Jammu, served as judges for the Ideation contest, while Sat Paul Deol adjudicated the poster competition. Under the patronage of Prof. B.N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, and the leadership of Prof. Rajinder Peshin, Director of Education, and Prof. Sudhakar Dwivedi, Dean Student Welfare, these events align with the broader agenda of Mission LiFE at SKUAST-Jammu.
