5/7/2024 10:46:11 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 7: In a significant development in the fight against the drug menace, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, under "Operation Sanjeevani," have confiscated approximately 3.10 grams of Heroin (commonly known as Chitta) in the Khanpur area of Kathua. One female suspect, identified as Asha Bibi, has been apprehended in connection with the illegal trade.
The operation was launched following credible intelligence received by the Police Post (PP) Marheen, indicating Asha Bibi's involvement in the distribution of narcotics in Khanpur and surrounding areas. Led by the In-Charge of PP Marheen and supervised by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Border and the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Rajbagh, a specialized team swiftly acted on the information.
During the operation, the police intercepted Asha Bibi and recovered the illicit drugs, along with a sum of Rs. 15,670 in cash and one mobile phone, from her possession. Subsequently, Asha Bibi was taken into custody on the spot. A case has been registered against her under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway under FIR No. 104/2024 at Police Station Rajbagh.
District Police Kathua has urged the community to collaborate in combating the drug trade by promptly reporting any suspicious activities to the authorities. Informants can reach out to the police via the emergency helpline number 100 or contact 9858034100, with the assurance of strict confidentiality.
This successful operation marks another step forward in the relentless efforts of law enforcement agencies to eradicate the scourge of narcotics from the region and ensure the safety and well-being of the residents.
