Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 7: FICCI FLO Jammu Kashmir & Ladakh Chapter marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of the FICCI FLO JKL MSME Help Desk and a successful Udyam Registration Drive for women entrepreneurs. The event, graced by G Velladurai IEDS, Jt. Director MSME, Head of Office (For UT, J&K, Ladakh), witnessed enthusiastic participation from women entrepreneurs eager to scale their businesses and leverage government schemes. This initiative is a significant initiative to support and promote women entrepreneurship in the region.
Ruchika Gupta, Chairperson FICCI FLO JKL thanked the MSME department for facilitating the inauguration of the FICCI FLO JKL MSME Help Desk within the department premises which is a pioneering initiative aimed at addressing the queries and concerns of FLO JKL members. She stated that often women hesitate to approach government departments & this dedicated help desk will provide a supportive environment for them to seek assistance confidently. She emphasized the vital role women play in India's economic growth and called for greater inclusion of rural women in the mainstream economy. She expressed FICCI FLO JKL's commitment to conducting MSME awareness camps in villages to empower more women entrepreneurs. Additionally, an exclusive nodal officer has been appointed to ensure seamless support for FLO JKL members in the future.
In a parallel effort, the Udyam Registration Drive saw 35 women members of FICCI FLO JKL completing their registrations. This step is pivotal in enabling them to access a plethora of government schemes aimed at fostering business growth and sustainability. Ruchika Gupta, Chairperson of FICCI FLO JKL, expressed her gratitude to Mr. G Velladurai for his support in raising awareness about the mandatory Udyam registration for women entrepreneurs to avail government schemes.
G Velladurai highlighted that despite earmarking 3 percent from within the 25 percent target of the total annual procurement from Micro & Small Enterprises for women-owned businesses, the utilization remains low in the region. He urged more women to come forward and complete their Udyam registration to capitalize on the available government schemes.
An upcoming awareness talk on MSME schemes by the department for FLO JKL members shall further empower women entrepreneurs with knowledge to elevate their businesses.
The event was attended by FICCI FLO JKL members and core team members including Varuna Anand, Arti Chowdhary, Varsha Bansal, Sona Mehta, Pooja Gandotra, and Mona Saraf among others.
