GDC RS Pura commemorates World Red Cross Day

RS PURA, May 8: 'World Red Cross Day' is also known as Red Crescent Day. It is celebrated on May 8 every year to marks the birth anniversary of Henry Dunant, who is the founder of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). He is also a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. With an objective to educate students to protect life, health and to ensure respect for every human being, the Red Ribbon Club in collaboration with IQAC of GDC R. S. Pura celebrated World Red Cross Day by organising a First Aid Activity to save lives under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Rajni Bhagat, Principal of the college and guidance of Prof Neelam Kumari, Convener RRC. During this activity, students were apprised about the Do's and Don'ts in situations like injuries, bee stings, fire accidents and electric shock. They learnt about the importance of administering first aid immediately by using the material in First Aid Box like Cotton, Band Aid, Antiseptic Liquid, Medicines etc. The students of the college were shown a PPT to create awareness about the seven Principles and history of Red Cross Day. As youth are the future of our country, it's our responsibility to enrich their mind with beautiful experiences and promote the sense of safety. It was a lively fulfilling activity.
The College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Rajni Bhagat reiterated the importance of First Aid which promotes the sense of safety and security among students. She emphasised that students with good knowledge of First Aid are likely to be more alert and active. In the end, a tribute was paid to the volunteers who support millions of people in times of conflict, natural disaster and crisis. The day was dedicated to the people who suffer from the shortage of food, natural calamities and war. The event was coordinated by Dr. Sunil Kumar Mangoch, Member, RRC. The esteemed faculty members who's cooperation make the event successful were Prof. Priya Darshni, Dr. Rakesh Choudhary, and Zenab Ara Khan.
