District Jammu hosts Inter-School Judo Competition | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 8: Today, on May 8th, 2024, the Department of Youth Services and Sports of District Jammu showcased the spirit of athleticism and camaraderie by organizing an Inter-School District Level Judo Competition for boys aged U-14 and U-17 at the Youth Hostel Nagrota. The event witnessed the participation of around 100 skilled young athletes representing various schools from across District Jammu. Under the patronage of Director Youth Services and Sports JK UT, Subhash Chander Chibber (JKAS), and the able guidance of Joint Director Youth Services and Sports Jammu, Ved Parkash (JKAS), the competition unfolded seamlessly. Ram Murti, representing DYSSO Jammu, provided overall supervision, ensuring the event's success. The primary objective of the competition was to identify and recognize exceptional talent to advance to higher levels of competition. With an emphasis on fair play and sportsmanship, the event aimed to foster a culture of healthy competition among the youth. The officiating duties were efficiently managed by Varinder Sharma and Raman Sharma, officials from District Jammu, ensuring the smooth conduct of the tournament. In the U-14 category, the following were the outstanding performers: Below 25 Kg: Anirudh Singh from BSF Sr. Sec. School secured the 1st position, followed by Kayat Puri from DPS Nagbani at 2nd place. Below 30 Kg: Harshit Nanda from BSF Sr. Sec. School clinched the 1st position, with Danish Loria from GHS, Panjpeer, securing the 2nd spot. Below 35 Kg: Ranvir Singh from BSF Sr. Sec. School emerged victorious in the 1st place, followed by Ayush Sharma from KV-2 at 2nd place. In the U-17 category, the following young judokas displayed exemplary skills: Below 40 Kg: Rahul Raina from Shingreela Public School bagged the 1st position, with Rangit Bhagat from GHS Patyari securing 2nd place. Below 45 Kg: Daksh Chibber from SOS Herman Geimnar claimed the 1st spot, followed by Akshit Verma from BSF Sr. Sec. School at 2nd place. Below 50 Kg: Amrit Gupta from SP Smart School emerged as the winner, with Aadiansh from SOS Herman Geimnar securing the 2nd position. The competition showcased the talent and dedication of young judokas, reflecting the region's commitment to promoting sports at the grassroots level. Such initiatives not only foster athletic excellence but also instill values of discipline and perseverance among the youth, paving the way for a brighter sporting future. |
