Police rescues 32 bovines, seizes 3 vehicles | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 8: In a relentless effort to combat bovine smuggling, the Sub Division Nagrota Police, Jammu, successfully rescued 32 cattle from the clutches of smugglers in three separate operations under "Operation Kamdhenu". In the early hours of May 8th, 2024, the team from Police Station Jhajjar Kotli intercepted a bovine smuggling attempt at naka Point Suketar. A total of 11 bovines were rescued, and a truck with registration number JK02BR-1915 was seized. The accused, identified as Mohd Sadiq, hailing from Kans Khassa Teh. & Distt Reasi, was apprehended by the police. Simultaneously, the team from Police Station Nagrota thwarted two additional bovine smuggling attempts at naka Bun Toll Plaza. In these operations, 21 bovines were rescued, and two smugglers were intercepted. One of the smugglers, Arif Mushtaq, hailing from Panchgam Kulgam, was apprehended, while another unidentified smuggler managed to flee the scene upon noticing the police presence. The police seized a Canter truck with registration number JK03K-3485 and another truck with registration number JK13C-8175. In response to these incidents, cases FIR No. 115/2024 was registered at P/S Jhajjar Kotli, and FIR No.138/2024 & FIR No 139/2014 were registered at P/S Nagrota under relevant sections of the law. The investigations into these cases are currently ongoing. The successful operations reflect the unwavering commitment of the Jammu Police to combat illegal activities and uphold the law.
