Police arrested two drug peddlers, 26 grams of heroin seized | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 14: Continuing its war against drugs under operation SANJEEVANI in a significant operation conducted by the police party of Police Post Gadigarh, two drug peddlers were apprehended and 26 grams of narcotics-like substance were seized. Acting on a tip-off, ASI Swaran Singh and his team established a naka at Dharap for vehicle checking duty. During the operation, a Swift car bearing registration number JK 01 AB 4108 was signaled to stop for checking. Upon personal search, 13.86 grams of heroin-like substance were recovered from the possession of the driver, identified as Asrar Ahmed Wani, son of Gulam Nabi Wani, resident of Batwara BB Cantonment Srinagar. Additionally, 12.38 grams of heroin-like substance were found on Tariq Hussain, son of Mohd Ramzan, resident of Batwara Srinagar. The total haul of 26.24 grams of narcotics was recovered from the two individuals. Upon further questioning, they failed to provide any reasonable explanation for the possession of the contraband. In light of these findings, a case FIR No 89/24 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Satwari, and investigations are underway. Jammu Police remains committed to combating the drug menace in our communities and will continue to take stringent action against those involved in illegal drug trafficking. |
