Two bovine smuggling bids foiled, 12 bovines rescued, two vehicles seized | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 17: In a significant crackdown under Operation Kamadhenu, Jammu Police have dealt a severe blow to bovine smugglers in the region. Demonstrating unwavering commitment and vigilance, the police team from Nagrota Police Station successfully intercepted a bovine smuggling attempt, rescuing 4 bovines and seizing a Mahindra vehicle (Registration No. JK19A-3092) at Ban Toll Naka. The driver, Ashraf Gojar Bhat, son of Mohd Jamal Gojar Bhat from Kokernag, Anantnag, was promptly apprehended. Simultaneously, another determined effort by PP Manwal led to the foiling of a second smuggling bid. The operation resulted in the rescue of 8 bovines and the seizure of a truck (Registration No. JK03G-4477), which was en route from Battal Morh to Udhampur. The driver, Altaf Hussain, son of Haze Fareed from Hiranagar, Kathua, was arrested on the spot. The following FIRs have been registered in this connection:- FIR No. 148/2024 at Police Station Nagrota under relevant sections of law. FIR No. 122/2024 at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli under relevant sections of law. Investigation in both the cases is actively going on. The public has expressed robust appreciation for the Jammu Police's relentless and stringent actions against bovine smugglers, reinforcing their trust in law enforcement's dedication to maintaining order and protecting animal rights. |
