Early Times Report JAMMU, May 18: The P.G. Department of Sanskrit, University of Jammu organized a Special lecture under Innovative Programme in the Phonetic lab of the Department.Prof. Daya Shankar Tiwary, Department of Sanskrit, University of Delhi delivered lecture on the topic "Science in Sanskrit literature". During his special lecture, Prof. Tiwary emphasized that Sanskrit stands out as the most comprehensive language among all others. He delved into various Shastras, including Physics, Astronomy, Botany, Chemistry, Zoology, Vedanga Jyotish, and Mathematics, underscoring their significance in his discourse. Professor Tiwary asserted that Sanskrit literature serves as the primary source for all sciences, highlighting Charakasamhita and Sushruta Samhita as pivotal texts in the field of medical science. Additionally, he highlighted the Prithivi Sukta of the Arthaveda as a cornerstone in the realms of botany and environmental science. Throughout his lecture, Professor Tiwary provided numerous references from Sanskrit literature to illustrate the depth and breadth of scientific knowledge encapsulated within it. Prof. Sucheta Pathania, Dean of the Faculty of Arts chaired the session.Prof. Ram Bahadur, Head of the Department, presented a formal welcome address. The vote of thanks was delivered by Prof .Sushma Devi, former Head of the Department of Sanskrit, University of Jammu. The event was attended by faculty members, research scholars, and alumni of the department, as well as faculty members from Buddhist Studies, Computer Science, Lifelong Learning, Dogri, and Mathematics, along with representatives from various degree colleges. A total of 30 individuals participated in the event. |
