Jammu, May 18: Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) successfully concluded a three-day awareness campaign as part of the “Nasha Mukt Bharat” initiative at Raina Hr. Sec. School, Top Paloura, Jammu. This event, which also promoted traditional culture, featured the 426th presentation of the Friday Series Musical Play “MACHARDANI” in collaboration with Sangam Tru Art Production, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and the Social Welfare Department, J&K Government. The program, written and directed by Dr. M.L. Dogra, a renowned writer and director, included a pledge against substance abuse administered by Usha Raina, the Troupe Leader of BLSKS, to over 300 students and teachers. A certificate from the Ministry of Social Justice was presented to the Principal of the host school. Chief Guest B.D. Raina, Managing Director of Raina Group of Schools, inaugurated the event. Guest of Honors included Mr. Ravind Raina, Principal of Raina Hr. Sec. School, and Meenaskhi Ji, a senior teacher at the host school. The event commenced with performances of songs like “Machardani – Chada da Bhukhar,” “Nasha Na Karna – Man Lo Kehna,” “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,” “Dengu Machar kola Bacho,” “Swatchh Bharat Jai Jai Bhaarat,” and “Kali Mata Bawe Basdi,” with music composed by the renowned music teacher Mr. Raju Bajgal. In his speech, Chief Guest Mr. Ravind Raina emphasized the significance of National Dengue Day, observed on May 16, and highlighted the campaign’s efforts to spread awareness about dengue and its prevention. He also spoke about the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to reduce drug demand and highlighted the comprehensive national survey and inputs from the Narcotics Control Bureau that identified the most vulnerable districts. Dr. M.L. Dogra, Chairman of BLSKS, welcomed the attendees and discussed the importance of raising awareness about dengue prevention and substance abuse. He explained the withdrawal symptoms associated with drug cessation and stressed the importance of medical support in overcoming addiction. Dr. Dogra also mentioned the program’s goals of promoting public awareness about the health damage caused by plastic and the broader aims of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. Mr. Mahesh Chander Kotwal, General Secretary of BLSKS, spoke about the campaign’s focus on educating communities about dengue prevention and highlighted BLSKS’s efforts in promoting Dogra culture through more than 200 cultural programs annually. The program concluded with an enthralling performance by singers, musicians, actors, and students from the music and computer institute, including Usha Raina, Raju Bajgal, Chahat Chadha, Bindia Okheda, Rajni Gupta, Sanjeev Kumar Sodhi, and Rahul Kumar. Master Deepak Kumar delivered the vote of thanks, marking the successful end of the event. |
