AIJMS Punjab felicitates Ch Manmohan Singh for selfless service to Jat community

CHANDIGARH, May 26: All India Jat Maha Sabha (AIJMS), Punjab unit, held a significant meeting in Chandigarh, organized by Harpal Singh Harpura, National Vice President of AIJMS and President of the AIJMS Punjab unit.
In the meeting, Choudhary Manmohan Singh, President of AIJMS, Jammu & Kashmir, and former Mayor of Jammu, was the chief guest and Ch. Avtar Krishan from Kathua was the guest of honour. Ajaib Singh Boparai, Incharge General Secretary, S. Sukhbir Singh Manahas Advisor Punjab, Avtar Singh Kalair District President Pathankot, Kanwar Partap Singh Bajwa Youth President Punjab, S. Mehar Singh Chotalla President Tarantaran, S. Gurpal Paggu President Amritsar, S. Gurpartap Singh Bhullar and S. Sikanderbir Singh were also graced the occasion.
During the meeting, Harpal Singh Harpura felicitated Choudhary Manmohan Singh with a Saropa and a Pagri, acknowledging his decades-long efforts in securing OBC status for the Jat community and border reservation benefit for the community's youth.
Harpal Singh emphasized the importance of drawing inspiration from Choudhary Manmohan Singh's achievements, particularly highlighting his role in organizing the Women Adhivehsan in Jammu, an event that saw participation from women across India.
Harpal Singh called for the formation of district-level committees to support National General Secretary Yudhvir Singh in his efforts. He urged community members to unite in securing OBC status for the weaker sections of society in Punjab, reinforcing the Sabha's commitment to upliftment and representation.
Ch Manmohan Singh, in his address, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Hartal Singh for felicitating him and recognizing his contributions. He extended thanks to all state bodies of AIJMS for their support in achieving OBC status for the community.
Highlighting current challenges, Ch Manmohan Singh mentioned that the Jat community is facing severe issues in Jammu and Kashmir. He underscored that several Jat community members, who were allotted custodian land during their migration in 1947, 1965, and 1971 by the then governments of Jammu & Kashmir, are still deprived of ownership rights. He sought support from the Presidents of Jat Maha Sabha from across the country to secure these ownership rights so that every single member of the Jat community can live their life with full dignity in the Jammu region.
Later in the press conference organised by the AIJMS Punjab unit in Chandigarh, Gujeet Singh Talwandi was nominated as the National Secretary of AIJMS. Both Harpal Singh and Choudhary Manmohan Singh felicitated him with an appointment letter.
Gujeet Singh Talwandi assured senior functionaries of Jat Maha Sabha that he will work diligently towards strengthening the organization across the country, aligning with the broader goals of AIJMS.
The meeting concluded with a strong sense of unity and determination among the attendees, who resolved to continue their collective efforts for the welfare and rights of the Jat community. The AIJMS reaffirmed its dedication to addressing the issues faced by the community and working towards their resolution.
