Annual General Meeting of IETE held

JAMMU, June 8: The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), Jammu Sub Centre, took place today. The meeting commenced with Dr. Vijay Sharma, the Honorary Secretary, welcoming and expressing gratitude to the members for their presence.
The agenda points were discussed, and all issues were successfully resolved. The financial statement and activity report for the year 2023-2024 received approval from the members. Chairman Joy Ganjoo highlighted the significance and achievements of the IETE Jammu Sub Centre over the past year. He noted that the sub centre has been vibrant and active, organizing technical workshops, seminars, and expert lectures at various institutions including MAM College Jammu, Government Degree College Akhnoor, and Government Polytechnic College Vikram Chowk Jammu. These events saw substantial student participation from distant areas, with certificates distributed to attendees.
The meeting also honored two senior members, Col. Charan Dass Manotra and Group Capt. S.P. Sharma, for their contributions. A minute of silence was observed in memory of Lt. Jagdish Chander Bharti, the father of Prof. Pawnesh Abrol (Former H.O.D CS/IT JU).
The election of new office bearers for the term 2024-2026 was conducted under the supervision of Sh. Umesh Tiwari, Observer appointed by H.Q.IETE, New Delhi. The newly elected office bearers are:
Dr. Vijay Sharma (Chairman) - Former Technical Officer, Doordarshan, and current Honorary Secretary of IETE, Jammu Sub Centre.
Dr. Radhika Khanna (Honorary Secretary) - Former Assistant Professor at MIET College Jammu and current Treasurer, with a PhD in Electronics from the University of Jammu.
Er. Tinny Sawhany (Honorary Treasurer) - Currently pursuing a PhD in Electronics from the University of Jammu.
Dr. Vijay Sharma extended his thanks to the participants and Dr. Umesh Tiwari for ensuring a smooth election process. Prominent members in attendance included Prof. Pawnesh Abrol, Maj. Gen. S.K. Sharma (Retd.), Prof. Praveen Lehna, Prof. Rakesh Vaid, and Dr. Suresh Rao from the University of Jammu.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to continue the proactive engagement of the IETE Jammu Sub Centre in the academic and professional development of students and professionals in the region.
