PULWAMA, June 11: In a significant step towards enhancing road safety, the District Administration Pulwama today convened a District Level Road Safety Meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom at the Administrative Complex Pulwama. Gathering insights from various stakeholders, the meeting underscored the paramount importance of road safety within the district. Executive Engineers from R&B and PMGSY provided a comprehensive overview of 87 identified black spots in the district, detailing the progress in rectifying them. The DC emphasized the urgency of the rectification process, urging swift action and the identification of additional black spots with prompt reports on remedial measures. Dr. Basharat reiterated the collective responsibility for public safety on the roads, addressing issues such as traffic congestion, inadequate signage, over-speeding and non-compliance with regulations. He directed authorities to collaborate effectively in implementing strategies to mitigate road safety challenges and enhance the overall safety standards. The meeting concluded with a commitment to ongoing collaboration and concerted efforts to prioritize road safety initiatives within the district, ensuring a safer and more secure road environment for all residents. The DC directed the officers of ARTO, Traffic, and MCs to conduct drives against traffic violators and enforce the law. He also emphasized minimizing traffic jams in town and conducting regular checks for violators and enforcement of the law. The meeting was attended by ADC, Pulwama; ACR Pulwama, Executive Engineers, Principals of Degree Colleges and others. |
