Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, June 23: The fifth batch of trekkers from Aryan Oriental Convent Hr. Sec. School, Udhampur, consisting of 88 students including 45 girls, has returned after an exhilarating experience at the Dharamshala Himalayan Trekking Programme organized by Tawi Trekkers J&K. Sonam Sidharth, General Secretary of the club and Field Director of the programme, ensured smooth boarding and lodging arrangements. The groups were guided by Shilpa Charak, an international climber, along with senior members Shuksham Verma, Vikas Singh, and Kashish Bharti. Upkar Singh Jamwal, Chairman of the school, and four teachers - Mohit Sharma, Vicky Sharma, Shariya Sharma, and Anamika Sharma - also accompanied the group. The young trekkers embarked on an adventurous journey from Bhagshu to Dharamkot and Flag Point. Most of them were on their first trek and relished the invigorating experience, including showers under the Bhagshu waterfall. Their itinerary included visits to the Dalai Lama Temple, the office of the Tibetan Government in exile, the picturesque Dharamshala Cricket Stadium, the serene Tapovan, and the renowned Norbulinga Monastery, which showcases 25 Thangkas depicting the lives of Dalai Lamas. The trekkers also explored Shakti Peeth Shri Chamunda Devi Temple, Nagini Devi Temple, and a vast tea garden and manufacturing company, where they learned about the tea production process. Expressing his gratitude to Tawi Trekkers J&K for organizing such a memorable trekking programme, Upkar Singh Jamwal, Chairman of Aryan Oriental Convent Hr. Sec. School, announced plans to install an international standard Finger Board in the school premises to promote sport climbing among students and nurture future national champions. |
