Jammu, July 1: A vocational training programme on “Boosting Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Food Sector” commenced today at SKUAST-Jammu which is being organized by Division of Post Harvest Management in collaboration with IDP-NAHEP, SKUAST-Jammu, Chatha w.e.f 01-08, July 2024. Prof. B. N. Tripathi, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Prof. Tripathi in his address to august gathering and especially students emphasized that the aim of such training programs is to enhance learning experiences, technical and vocational skills, and improve prospects for entrepreneurship development and innovation through industry and academia linkages among horticulture, agriculture, and allied sciences students. He stressed the importance of waste utilization, value addition and boosting entrepreneurship in the food sector. Prof. Rajinder Peshin, Director Education, SKUAST-Jammu also highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship in the food sector. At the outset of the programme, Prof. Vikas Tandon, Dean, Faculty of Horticulture and Forestry welcomed the chief guest and provided a detailed overview about the training programme. Prof. Vikas Sharma, Coordinator, IDP-NAHEP, Prof. Neeraj Gupta, Organizing Secretary and Prof. Monika Sood, Division of PHM were also present on the occasion. Dr Syed Zameer Hussain, Head Division of FST, SKUAST K; Dr. Beena Jad, MD Microbiology, Department of Laboratory Medicine, Narayana, Katra and Dr. Rehana Akhtar Bijli, Personnel Officer, Associated Hospitals, Jammu delivered expert lectures during the first day of the training programme. The program proceedings were conducted by Prof. Vivak M Arya, and the formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Monica Reshi, organizing secretary of the training program. |
