NEW DELHI, July 4: "Muzzling the gun culture and putting a full stop to Fatwas and separatism in Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji has brought peace and development to a region that has been eagerly looking to Delhi for decades," said Er. Gulam Ali Khatana, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, while addressing a gathering at a function organized by the Akhil Bharatiya Gujjar Maha Sabha (ABGMS) in New Delhi.
Er Khatana, a senior BJP leader and a nominated member of the Rajya Sabha, began his speech by recounting the formidable challenges he faced in his homeland, Jammu and Kashmir. "I come from a place where fatwas were issued against nationalist people. Speaking for peace and development made you many enemies.
However, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi Ji, the BJP changed this narrative, placing the region on the map of development, peace, and progress-something the people of J&K had been waiting for decades," he stated. "But, since the day I joined politics, I never bothered about who said what. I worked hard for national interests and my Gujjar community."
The MP emphasized the BJP's principle of "Nation First," revealing that he has devoted over fifteen years of his life to this cause, often sacrificing personal and family time. "For national interests, I could not give time to my family," he said, "but I'm satisfied that my contributions have yielded expected results, bringing peace and progress to J&K under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji."
"Our party, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji, has delivered on our promises to the masses. Today, development is visible in every sector, including roads, rail links, hospitals, colleges….many more. A new story is being crafted to position India as a world leader. I urge my community and all citizens of this country to contribute to nation-building by supporting the BJP," he added.
Reflecting on the difficult circumstances in Jammu and Kashmir, Er Khatana spoke about the pervasive terrorism and separatism that threatened the region. "It was very difficult to work in national interests in J&K," he explained. "Terrorists and separatists used to issue fatwas (warnings/threats) against you if you spoke for your country. Anti-national elements and their fatwas claimed many lives in Jammu and Kashmir, but we continued spreading the central leadership's message among the masses without any fear, and this continues today."
The gathering saw the attendance of prominent leaders from the Gujjar community across the country, including former ministers, MPs, and MLAs. Their presence highlighted the significance of the event and the respect commanded by Er Khatana within the community."
