RAJOURI, July 22: District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Om Prakash Bhagat today chaired a District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) meeting to review the implementation of the Farmers Producer Organization (FPO) scheme in the district. During the meeting, he emphasized the importance of FPOs in promoting sustainable agriculture practices, improving market access, and enhancing farmers’ livelihoods. He stressed that FPOs are crucial for reducing production costs, increasing productivity, and facilitating better market linkages to enhance farmers’ income. The DDC directed the CBBOs to adopt a comprehensive approach to support farmers and ensure successful FPOs in the district. He emphasized proper handholding of farmers, doubling farmers’ income, and directed CBBOs to ensure effective functioning of FPOs. He also instructed CBBOs to calendarize activities for farmers’ welfare, create awareness about schemes implemented by different departments for farmers and work diligently to provide proper training to farmers. Moreover, the DDC also stressed upon utilising the services of KVK in the district for conduct of various agriculture related training programs. The meeting was attended by the Chief Agriculture Officer, Sohan Singh; District Development Manager NABARD, Chander Bhagat; Lead District Manager, Sanjeev Bhasin and the representatives from the CBBOs. |
