KALAKOTE, July 24: Government Degree College Kalakote organized a day-long seminar on "The Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS)" to educate students about the newly introduced laws by the Government of India. Under the esteemed guidance of the Principal, Prof. Mohd. Farooq Mirza, the event aimed to shed light on the latest legal reforms and their implications.
The seminar commenced with an inaugural address by Principal Prof. Mohd. Farooq Mirza, who provided an insightful overview of the BNSS, highlighting its key issues and analyzing the act. His address set the tone for an informative and engaging session, emphasizing the importance of understanding new legal frameworks.
Dr. Khursheed Ahmed, Head of the Department of Economics and Convener of the concerned committee, delivered a detailed presentation on the law relating to Criminal Procedure (CrPC) that came into effect on July 1, 2024. He elucidated the significant issues that prompted the amendment of the existing Criminal Procedure, with a particular focus on its application and impact on women. Dr. Ahmed's expertise and thorough explanation helped the attendees gain a deeper understanding of the BNSS and its practical workings.
The seminar attracted a large number of students, alongside faculty members, who participated actively in the discussions. The event provided a platform for students to enhance their legal awareness and engage with contemporary legal issues.
The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Himanshu Kumar, NSS Programme Officer, who expressed gratitude to all participants and contributors for making the event a success.
