JPDCL achieves milestone with First Rooftop Solar under PM Surya Ghar scheme

JAMMU, July 26: Jammu Power Development Corporation Limited (JPDCL) has successfully installed the first rooftop solar system in Jammu under the prestigious PM Surya Ghar Scheme. This pioneering initiative marks a significant step towards promoting renewable energy and reducing carbon emissions in the region.
The first installation of a domestic solar rooftop system was done at the home of Dr.M. L Gupta of Salian Talab, Udhampur with consumer ID 0108020001275 under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, today. This milestone marks a significant step towards harnessing renewable energy and reducing our carbon footprint.
The installation, completed in collaboration with REC ltd, boasts a 5 kW solar rooftop system, expected to generate 7200 units of clean energy annually. This project serves as a beacon for encouraging homeowners and businesses to adopt sustainable energy solutions.
Mr Vikas Kundal, (IAS )Managing Director JPDCL, expressed satisfaction in this achievement, stating, “We are committed to driving the adoption of solar energy in Jammu, and this first installation under the PM Surya Ghar Scheme is a testament to our efforts. We look forward to empowering more citizens with clean energy solutions.
He has appealed to consumers to submit their applications on the official website of JPDCL where the link to the National Portal is available on website https://www.pmsuryaghar.gov.in/ to take advantage of the scheme’s benefits.” Under the current pricing benchmarks, the subsidy amounts for solar rooftop systems in Jammu & Kashmir, are Rs 33,000 for 1-2 kWp systems- Rs 66,000 for 2-3 kWp systems and Rs 85,800 for 3 kWp systems or higher. As per JPDCL the notice regarding the state subsidy on PM Surya Ghar scheme is expected to be released shortly, which will further benefit the customers and shall also released to consumers who have already applied on the portal.
