Inter Zonal District Level Competitions showcase Youth Sports Talent in Jammu

JAMMU, July 26: The Department of Youth Services and Sports District Jammu organized a series of Inter Zonal District Level Competitions, highlighting the athletic prowess of young girls in basketball and badminton, and boys in football. The events took place at various venues, with the football competitions held at Parade Ground Jammu and the basketball and badminton finals at MAM Stadium.
In the U-14 Girls Basketball final, Zone Gandhi Nagar emerged victorious, defeating Zone Satwari by a significant margin of 11-2 points. However, Zone Satwari bounced back in the U-17 Girls Basketball final, defeating Zone Gandhi Nagar 12-7.
The badminton finals saw intense competition as well. In the U-14 Girls Badminton final, Zone Jammu triumphed over Zone Gandhi Nagar with a 2-1 sets victory. Conversely, in the U-17 Girls Badminton final, Zone Gandhi Nagar clinched the win against Zone Jammu, also by 2-1 sets.
The Inter Zonal District Level Subroto Cup Football tournament for U-15 and U-17 boys commenced today at Parade Ground Jammu. Under the patronage of Director Youth Services and Sports JK UT Sh. Subhash Chander Chibber (JKAS) and the guidance of Joint Director Youth Services and Sports Jammu Sh. Ved Parkash (JKAS), the tournament aims to select the best players for the upcoming competitions.
Today's results in the football matches were as follows:
U-17 Boys: Don Jni won their match.
U-17 Boys: Rakhmuti emerged victorious.
U-15 Boys: JK Public won their game.
U-15 Boys: Jodhamal secured a win.
At the closing ceremony held at MAM Stadium Jammu, Smt. Harvinder Kour, In-charge DYSSO Jammu, distributed trophies to the winning and runner-up teams. The ceremony was attended by Sh. Yash Pal Sharma, Convenor Miss Mosmi Verma (Basketball NIS), and the overall in-charge of badminton, Sh. Sanjay Khajuria (NIS).
The main objective of these competitions is to identify and select the best players for the next level of upcoming tournaments, fostering the growth and development of young athletes in the region.
These events underscore the commitment of the Department of Youth Services and Sports District Jammu to nurture and promote sports talent among the youth, providing them with platforms to showcase their skills and compete at higher levels.
